Alex Wallash

Executive COACH
MA-ODL, ACC

I draw upon a decade of leadership experience in creating, growing, and leading a brewery I co-founded called The Rare Barrel. When I started Rare Barrel, my purpose was to bring people together. The teams I led created a multi-million dollar business with an e-commerce platform, national and international distribution, designed over 150 unique products, orchestrated the creation of over 30 products co-branded with other companies, won seven awards at the most prestigious beer tasting competitions, presented at conferences, and built a restaurant.

I’ve been a new leader navigating the demands of an exciting and unfamiliar role, a successful business owner balancing my own tasks, delegation, and personal life, at times I’ve been a burnt-out boss looking for ways to get excited about work again, and, sure enough, I’ve navigated some pretty big career transitions in my time.

While I learned and grew from all of these opportunities to lead and create at Rare Barrel, over time I began to notice that what gave me the most purpose professionally was supporting others in their growth and development. I realized that my work experience made me uniquely qualified for coaching and gave me valuable insights into leadership practices I wouldn’t have been able to have otherwise.

When I knew that coaching was the direct path for me to serve my community, I attended Georgetown University’s acclaimed leadership coaching program, fell in love with coaching, and began living into my new purpose.

If you asked my colleagues and friends to describe me in five words, you might hear something to the tune of curious, kind, present, maverick, and fun. When I’m not coaching, I enjoy exploring the cities and hills of the San Francisco Bay Area with Brit, Pickles, and Bilbo, catching a sunrise surf in the chilly Pacific Ocean, nurturing our 42 and counting house plants, cooking my favorite noodle dish, and finding ways to play in the present moment.

I can’t wait to hear about where you are on your journey.

Kindly, Alex
